Worley to be part of Stars for Stripes tour in Iraq from April 29-May 3
Nashville, TN (March 29, 2010) - Platinum country star, Darryl Worley returns overseas for the eighth time to perform for U.S. Troops as part of the Stars for Stripes tour. The "We've Not Forgotten" tour will take place throughout Iraq from April 29 - May 3. In addition to full band concerts, Worley will also be performing special acoustic sets at various remote FOB's (Forward Operating Bases) for troops who rarely receive celebrity entertainment.
A long-time supporter for the United States Armed Forces, Worley has toured somewhere overseas at least once a year since 2002. In recognition of those efforts, he has received numerous awards for his service, including the VFW Americanism Award, the USO Merit Honor and the U.S. Army Appreciation Award. Although, Worley says he doesn't make these trips to promote his career or for publicity. It's merely his way to show support to the troops.
"In some small way, this is just our way to say thanks in honor of their sacrifice, but it could never compare to what these soldiers do for us every day," says Worley. "Seeing their undying allegiance and loyalty to the cause is so inspiring. Those young men and women are so phenomenal and because of what they do, we are all very fortunate to have the lifestyle and freedom that we have."
Over the course of his decade-long career, Worley has released six studio albums with 18 charted hits, the majority of which were penned by Worley himself. He has also sold over 1.5 million albums and charted three number one singles with, "I Miss My Friend," "Have You Forgotten" and "Awful, Beautiful, Life." Worley's current album, Sounds Like Life, includes the Top 10 hit, "Sounds Like Life to Me," and his latest single, "Best of Both Worlds."
