JimmyWayne's "Meet Me Halfway" - 1,660 Miles, Nashville to Phoenix

When I first heard about Jimmy Wayne participating in Meet Me Halfway, I had no idea what MMH was. I did some research on it and realized he's raising awareness for homeless teens and also raising money for organizations that help these homeless teens. He started his walk in Nashville on January 1, 2010, and is hoping to make it to Phoenix by the end of March. He's been tweeting in photos daily, and I've been waiting for him to get closer to where I live. Finally the day came and he was within an hour from my house, so I decided to go see him and take him "supplies" as he calls them.

I left my house and started driving down hwy 70, which is the road Jimmy has been on the entire time. I drove for about an hour, and I finally saw the Hiscall van (which is following him to Phoenix to make sure he's okay), so I knew that Jimmy Wayne was close by. I parked by the Hiscall van and waited for Jimmy to get there. When I got out of my car, he yelled, "HEY, how's it going...can I take your picture?" He walked up to me and asked if I wouldn't mind waiting for a minute because he was on hold with his producer. I didn't realize until after the fact that it was actually Scott Borschetta. Jimmy kept telling Scott that people's genorosity was amazing and that he couldn't believe people were stopping just to say tell him that they were supporting what he was doing. Then he started talking to Scott about me about how "this young lady, Johanna, drove an hour just to bring me hand warmers."

We talked for about fifteen minutes about anything and everything. He told me that he had just gotten off of the phone with a radio station in Phoenix, they pranked him big time. They acted like they were Randy Travis on the phone, and he totally bought it, he said he started taking off his gloves and everything because he was so excited. He actually ustreamed it because he thought it was real, so if you haven't seen it go check it out. He was so appreciative that I had brought him hand, feet, and body warmers. I just wanted to show my support for what he was doing. Before I left I asked him if he would sign something for me and he was like you are so nice "your wish is my command, is there anything else you want." Before I left he tried to pay me for the hand warmers I had brought him, and I told him NO. Then as I was leaving he was like "you should totally come find me tomorrow and oh yeah I like root beer."

Today I went and saw Jimmy again and of course I had to bring him Stewarts Root Beer, since he requested it. I also brought wool socks, thanks to David at FrontRowNews. I didn't really get to talk to him much today, because it was rushed since he was about to go eat lunch. However, he did take the time to take a few pictures though. Once again he was very appreciative of the "supplies" brought to him. David, he said to tell you thank you, he looked at each pair, and said that they would help a lot.
